Tsogolo la Atsikana HELP Girls Club Empowers Young Women to Build Brighter Futures

In Chiwawula Village, a group of 28 girls and young women aged 15–22 is proving that when girls are empowered with financial knowledge and opportunities, they can transform their lives.

The Tsogolo la Atsikana HELP Girls Club brings together girls from different backgrounds—including those in school, young mothers, and out-of-school girls—who meet regularly using the HELP (Hybrid Economic Livelihood Process) approach. Through the group, members learn financial literacy, save together, access small loans, and support one another in building sustainable businesses and achieving their personal goals.

For many members, poverty had become a major barrier to education and economic independence. Some had dropped out of school because their families could no longer afford school fees, while others had limited opportunities to earn an income.

One inspiring member, who had dropped out of school due to financial challenges, joined the HELP Girls Club and received a small loan to start a business. As her business grew, she was able to return to school and now pays her own school fees, giving her renewed confidence and hope for the future.

“Joining the HELP Girls Club changed my life. I started a small business with a loan from the group, and today I am back in school because I can pay my own school fees. I now believe I can achieve my dreams.”HELP Girls Club Member

The Tsogolo la Atsikana HELP Girls Club is creating opportunities for young women to become financially independent, stay in school, and build resilient futures. By combining savings, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and peer support, the initiative is helping girls overcome poverty and unlock their full potential.

Through programmes like this, Njira Impact continues to invest in the power of girls, ensuring they have the skills, confidence, and economic opportunities to lead healthier, more prosperous lives.
