EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH CLIMATE-SMART AGRICULTURE IN MPAMANTHA

In recent weeks, Njira Impact spent time with the Titukulane and Vision Youth Groups in Mpamantha under the Tipindule – Youth and Women Productive Income Ventures initiative. The sessions focused on training young people in the production of Mbeya fertilizer—a simple, affordable, and sustainable solution for improving soil fertility and increasing crop yields.

A total of 24 young people participated in the training (15 females and 9 males). Their enthusiasm and commitment were evident as they learned the step-by-step process of making Mbeya fertilizer, proper mixing techniques, and how to use locally available materials to support climate-smart farming.

To help turn knowledge into action, the groups received practical inputs including rice seed, bean seed, maize seed, mustard and tomato seeds, hoes, sprayers, and fertilizer. These resources will enable the youth to immediately apply their new skills and strengthen their agricultural activities.

This initiative is building confidence, practical farming skills, and a sense of ownership among young people, while contributing to more sustainable and resilient communities.

We are proud to walk alongside a new generation of youth who are ready to lead the way in climate-smart and resilient agriculture
